Just got 2 small plywood cigar boxes from eBay. One is  8 3/4 x 6 1/2 x 2 inches and I'm going to use it for a Ukulele. The other is 10 x 5 3/4 x 1 1/4 inches. I wanted to make a 3 string fretless slide CBG from it but it looks kinda small? Is this box an OK size for a CBG? Should I use a shorter scale length to keep eveything in proportion? Any advice or opinions would be very much appreciated.

  • 10 x 5 3/4 x 1 1/4 is a fine size for a cigar box guitar Mathew, i use 25.5" scale length and suits prefectly. You can experiment with different scale lengths but the one you settle on should be the one you're most comfortable with, i learned to play on Strats so it was a simple transition (-:

    • Cool thanks Steve. I'm also a Strat man so I think I'll go with your advice.

  • 2-3" deep, 5-7 wide and 7-12" tall. I am building my first from a guide book by "gitty man cbg" (google that) and those are the "ideal dementions" but I think with cbg anything goes
    • Cheers thanks for the tip
