Hi Guys.  I have a fretless guitar and want to mark off the fret positions to make it easier for myself. It's been built on a 24" scale, but I can't find any info on where to mark off the frets. Ive been out of the loop for ages and my brains frazzled. ... anyone able to help

Stewart Macdonald have a little program that calculates fret position for any scale length. I use it all the time.
A quick tip: use coloured electrical tape to mark the positions if you don't want to mark the fretboard long term.

All the best from Bill. :D
24" scale means you know where your nut and bridge are, soooo...

Here's the fret distances from the nut, using the Stew-Mac calculator:

24.000" fret scale

fret from nut fret to fret
1 1.347" 1.347" (nut-1)
2 2.618" 1.271" (1-2)
3 3.818" 1.200" (2-3)
4 4.951" 1.133" (3-4)
5 6.020" 1.069" (4-5)
6 7.029" 1.009" (5-6)
7 7.982" 0.952" (6-7)
8 8.881" 0.899" (7-8)
9 9.730" 0.849" (8-9)
10 10.530" 0.801" (9-10)
11 11.286" 0.756" (10-11)
12* 12.000" 0.714" (11-12)
13 12.674" 0.674" (12-13)
14 13.309" 0.636" (13-14)
15 13.909" 0.600" (14-15)
16 14.476" 0.566" (15-16)
17 15.010" 0.535" (16-17)
18 15.515" 0.505" (17-18)
19 15.991" 0.476" (18-19)
20 16.440" 0.450" (19-20)
21 16.865" 0.424" (20-21)
22 17.265" 0.400" (21-22)
23 17.643" 0.378" (22-23)
24* 18.000" 0.357" (23-24)
* Frets that are red are "octaves".

And here it is in metric:

609.600mm fret scale

fret from nut fret to fret
1 34.214mm 34.214mm (nut-1)
2 66.508mm 32.294mm (1-2)

10 267.474mm 20.344mm (9-10)

18 394.074mm 12.816mm (17-18)
19 406.170mm 12.097mm (18-19)
20 417.588mm 11.418mm (19-20)
21 428.365mm 10.777mm (20-21)
22 438.537mm 10.172mm (21-22)
23 448.138mm 9.601mm (22-23)
24* 457.200mm 9.062mm (23-24)
* Frets that are red are "octaves".

If you don't feel fancy tempered scales are your thing then mark it at the natural harmonics. 4 6 8 and 12 inches.
If you look carefully at the tempered fret spacings above, this is roughly where the third fifth seventh and twelfth frets go. It is pretty common when playing fretted guitars for people to bend the strings to get the notes on those natural harmonic spacings.
