Elmar Zeilhofer is one of the most radical inventors of the Cigar Box Guitar Movement.  When challenged to create a thin pickup that can be installed on a cigar box guitar without routing, he re-engineered the humbucking pickup, winding the coils sideways, resulting in The FlatPup, a pickup that is well under 1/4 inch thick.

In this video, Bluesman Chris Fillmore tests a harp cigar box guitar built by Zeilhofer.  More information at www.original-flatpup.com

Elmar's flap pups are still my favorites. Glad to see him back. I'm putting together a 4 string with one of his plain 4pole flat pups. Easiest to install ever and a great sounding pickup.
