I am getting increasing demand for  my workshops making simple cigar box diddley bows. in UK at least the cigar boxes are getting harder to find and more expensive.  I have had some success using cardboard boxes intended for computer keyboards. Anybody got other suggestions?

  • Metal lunch boxes, candy tins, wine boxes, backgammon box, chess board/box, file box, a bird house, oil/gas cans.....etc.

I'm always on the lookout for for stuff like this.  If it looks like it could be a good resonator, I'll scoop it up.

  • I like using old silverware boxes, fairly cheap at the thrift store, ebay carries a wide assortment. Plenty large enough for reso builds and acoustic`s with plenty of room for electrics. Here`s one that I used on my washboard harp.     The Amish Harp..final pic`s

These could work for a diddley, although only 11.5cm wide... there are plenty more to look at. These work out at £2.58 each, and they could be decorated by the punters.
