  • I just copied the fret measurements from friends guitars, a Gibson Les Paul, (625mm scale), Fender strat, (650mm), acoustic, 3/4 acoustic for grand kids, and a baritone ukulele for a U Bass.

The width of the neck is up to you, depending on far apart you want your strings, 10-12mm is usual for mine, and a few mm at each side, I also round the edge of the neck face slightly, so the slide does not hit it as easy.

I found that making my own box like a six sided coffin added to the acoustic sound, as it was bigger and wider than a cigar box, I also ordered machine heads, strings, pre amp's, piezo and mag pick up from amazon, some can take a month to arrive from China, so make very sure there guitar size machine heads or they will send you small ukulele ones. I've got 36 of them, and my money back after a month of e-mails I ordered the guitar ones and proved it with the photo's I sent them.

I find good thick hard wood the most difficult to find, but at the Mens Shed near me they had parts of an old snooker table, and bought a whole side very cheep, and they have heavy machinery to saw, plane, and sand the necks and plenty of guys willing to show as well as learn from me.

Check out for your local Men's Shed, most have good crafts men doing there own thing.
