I'm new here, and not much of a musician, but just got inspired by this guy:

I was so amazed by the sound and inspired by it's simplicity that I wrote up a little how-to book for making the instrument. You can download it free in pdf format at handprintpress.com, or buy it in paperback for $10. I posted a blog somewhere here, but haven't quite figured out how to point you to the right place.

to  add a  link  like that  , (just   right click   and copy  the address     in the  top  address    bar on the   page  you  want to  link  ..   then  right  click   where  you want to     post    it  ,  (in  a reply  like  this  )   and  click  "paste  "   )

    • thanks! (I didn't see the address when I was on the page!)

  • Those are not fretted like dulcimers. I'd call it more of a 3 string banjo. They are cool though.

    • You can fret 'em any way you want -- I think Shirley's may have the dulcimer fretting (mine does). But Ray makes all kinds of instruments all kinds of ways -- cardboard guitars and fiddles, guitars (and banjos) from gourds, etc.
