I had read a "How To" Building a Piezo pick up somewhere else on the net and the artical mention if "some" of the white crystal substance chipped off during disassebly of the plastic case that it would not effect its operation. Well after I took mine apart the red positive wire just fell off and took a chunk of the white crystal coating, the same size of the solder puddle, with it. Can this be repaired? If so do I just resolder the wire back on in a different spot?

  • I was playing with my piezo today and now I need to re solder also, I guess my first attempt did not last. I am going to try Chesters method, I heard that on suggested before also so it must work.

  • Hi all...just joined after lurking for a long while.

I've had this happen lots of times and you can solder it back together but here's a tip: put a good amount of solder on the tip of the iron and touch to a new spot on the white ceramic until the solder stays. If you leave it there too long it will burn through the layer and not stay. Then take your tinned wire and solder it to the new spot. You can keep trying on new spots if it doesn't work the first time. Good luck!
  • Solder it on, it should work. good luck
  • Just try soldering it back on, if it doesn't work your not out a lot of money just get a new one.
  • Yep, just solder quickly. Let the iron got good and hot, have the solder ready and make sure everything is well tinned.
