If the tone goes buzz at only the 5th fret, does that mean fret is too high, too low or either?

Could it be fret 6 is too high? I think this is possible because the pitch at fret 5 and 6 sound too similar.

Also looking at my photo, 6 looks a bit high.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

  •  Looks like it is buzzing at the 6th fret when making a note with your finger on the 5th fret ?    See if you can hammer your 6th fret down .   If the fret doesn't stay down you can try super gluing (or epoxy )  and clamping it down .

    • Thanks for the replies. I improvised a putty knife for a fret level gauge and located the misbehavors.

      It sounds much better. 305968658?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024

      • Now that there is how you do it on a CBG!

  • You may want to check 9,10,13, 15 and 16 also. Maybe its just the picture angle, they look like they aren't fully seated. Not trying to be smart, just trying to help.

  • Yep, From your pic I would say both.  Looks like the 5th is hammered down good & tight, but 6th maybe can be hammered down some more?  I vigorously hammer all my frets tight to the board & have not had to sand / dress them yet.

  • Here what I use
