This is the shortest one I'm going to build.  It's an 18 in scale on a Romeo box.  It has an oak fret board and head stock on a mahogany neck.  It's 4 string tuned to DGBE.  It has a bright sound compared to the three strings I have built.  After completing it I found this scale to be too short for me to play comfortably.  This would be good for a smaller person (I think).

  • If you like the look and/or sound of the shorter scale length then consider only partially fretting it as a dulcimer or blucimer.  That frees up a lot of space.

  • I kind of like short scale, but I also play a lot of ukelele. Really a very nice looking build. I would love to hear a song on it.

    • That's asking alot Matthew, considering I can barley pluck a few notes.
