Black Partagas Box , Glue Neck To The Lid ??

First off , Im fairly new to this CBG thing and this Forum is amazing .. Just finished my first 3 string , Cohiba box ..   I have a couple more Im getting started at . One is a Black Partagas 11" box ..  I peeled off the inside sticker to glue the neck and turns out its a press board box with a wood bottom .

  I've been searching pics and builds , can a guy glue to that fiber press board stuff ?  I was planning a neck through but not through out the end , and Am planning a hardtail adjustable bridge etc ..  Just not sure about this press board stuff ?

    I would never glue the neck to the lid, it will make the whole structure unstable, much better to brace along the length of the box and glue the neck onto it, had a lot of success with this design, and don't add any more "reinforcing" blocks, less is more, you will dampen the resonance with too much wood. once the lid is screwed down the whole thing will be light but very very rigid (-:

    btw the through neck should go through the back of the box with about 2" protruding  from the end of the box for best results (-:

    Great ideas guys , I went ahead and glued blocks on the inside corners , I like the idea of strengthening and something to screw the lid down to vs gluing the lid down . Its def going to be electric , so not so worried about acoustics etc ..  Some braces in the front and the rear for bracing like mentioned plus gluing to the lid should do the trick .. Thanks guys .

    Are you gonna electrify it? If so, or even if not, I would flip it so that the bottom is the sound board. Also, I would glue corner braces in all four corners to stiffen the box. Also give you something to screw into if you decide to ditch the pasteboard top. But since I now see you've already cut your neck notch, you could either go ahead as planned, or alternatively, replace the pasteboard top with a thin ( 2-3mm ) piece of birch or lauan plywood. Alternatively also also wik, you could cut your neck notch down to the bottom, install your neck, glue another piece of neck wood to the bottom of that, let it stick out about 2" to fill the gap, and shape it into a heel. Then you could cut a notch into the top neck piece, which is now braced, and a corresponding hole in the top, and install a mini humbucker pickup in the neck position.

    Glue right to it.  That's what I've always done and never had a problem.  I would put some bracing under the neck at both ends inside the box...
