My Dog Bowl Reso is nearly finished apart from the bridge ,  i'm using a softwood temp bridge ( as in the sound test video ) just to set the action height and intonation and with a peizo stuck under the bowl , i'd like your thoughts on what sort of bridge to use and what type of wood is better , thanks for reading .

  •  Have'nt tried it amped up yet with the disc piezo's , not a fan of disc piezo's,  we'll see .

    • I don`t use disc`s...Rod piezo`s...their in a bridge base with a bone saddle on top. The strings rest on the saddle pusing down on the rod....No feedback like the disc`s create.

I know I've all ready made 2 CBG with a rod piezo sapele and bone saddle bridges  , I thought i'd keep this one simple , sounds great with the discs but there's just too much noise from from the strings and box so i'll make another bridge with a rod piezo .

  • Any flat bridge will work, hell drill a small hole through and use a rod bridge. Here`s some of what I make both acoustic and rod piezo bridges.  http://www.cigarboxnation.com/photo/albums/custom-bridges

  •  Here's what I've just knocked up out of a old wooden coat hanger and a bit of fret wire306112360?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024

    • That'll work!

  • Check out some of Randy Bretz's bone bridges with rod piezos in them. They look and sound great!

  • Harder material (bone, metal) -> harder, brighter sound
Softer material (hardwood) -> warmer, darker sound
    •  But you can't make a bridge out of bone or metal ? , as it's a reso I need a bright sound the bridges I've made for my 3 and 4 stringers don't sound as bright as i'd like , i'm very limited in what I have left over to make a bridge with I have a couple of off cuts of sapele  2in x 2in x1/4in so I only get one shot at making it , so any ideas would be great , thanks for reading .

      • The sound of a metal bridge on a metal resonator is great, you can get a real nasty dobro growl if your lucky. For a relatively easy one try a bent spoon or fork, you only need a dremel and a sander
