Bass strings ??

the strings that I currently have are no good way to long(40")

now my Bass I can have either 30" or 31" scale.(fretted).

strings 105/85  gaug @32.1/16" from ball to start of taper.

(can't find ant shorter on ebay)

would these be suitable for my Bass cbg? or do I need to pick a lighter gauge?

  • gormless twit!! I just realise the scale length is from the nut so the short scale strings above would be fine.

so the question what might be the best or should I say the commonly used strings for these two stringers.

the string maker will be D'Addario

I did consider weedwacker but I don't think I can use a slide on these?

    • If you're using the two strings mentioned above, they are the E & A strings. You may just be better off not worrying so much about doing what is "commonly used" and go with what you have...and use your instinct.

And likely the answer is no, weedwacker strings not really good for slide. Better for creating that thumping bass line. Metal strings will react better to having a slide running across them, imho.

      • thanks
