Hi all!

My husband is a guitar player (as a hobby), and I've pretty much bought him all the accessories he wants over the years. Our anniversary is in less than a month and I'm at a loss on what to get him. I got the great idea to get him a unique cigar box guitar, maybe even get it engraved. HOWEVER, the more I look online at the different ones available, the more I'm starting to think he might actually appreciate building one himself. He has done upgrades to his guitars, and loves building/creating. I'm completely clueless on all of this though.

So I thought I'd try to get some advice! Should I:

1) buy him one that is already made to feel out his interest and give him something immediately playable? If so, where is the best place to look? It's already too late to get a custom one made in time for our anniversary.

or

2) buy him a kit/pieces to build his own? If so, where do I start? Should I wait on purchasing the actual cigar box so he can pick that out himself?

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

  • Maybe also consider a CBGitty Amp kit for him?

  • Yep, I thought I deleted all that cos it landed here. Looks like one can't delete a post in the edit section. Never mined just ignore it, it's happened before.

  • Thanks guys! The anonymous pick, your guitars look awesome! Please message me, I'd love to get more information!
    • Hi, another way to check the relief (bow) is to fret a string at the first fret and fret it at the 12th at the same timekeeping. You can then sight under the string (Which will be dead straight) and see any bow of the neck referenced off the straight string.
