This has probably been covered, but I didn’t find it, so here goes.
When I built my first CBG, using a straight neck, I ran into the issue of the string with the tuner furthest from the nut not having enough drop angle to stay in place on the threaded rod nut. Somewhere in a video somebody mentioned using the eye of a bait holder fish hook. Brilliant! Just one problem. I didn’t want to remove and attempt to reuse the string to get it through the eye. Dremel to the rescue! I slotted the eye right where the wire eye ends, using a thin cutoff wheel, so the eye is able to hook over the string. Loosened the string enough to push it out of the way, drilled a tiny pilot hole, wiped a bit of wood glue on the shaft of the hook, and tapped it in place. Then just hooked the string with the slightly open eye, and tuned it back up. Beat the pants off risking kinking and breaking the string.

Good save , ;-) An alternative (for the future) , is wind your strings more rounds down ,, and drill the top tuner lower more towards mid neck , also wind the 2 end tuners the other direction so it all lines up better with the side that it is wrapping .
