Like Wayfinder said, use the one specifically for the kit. If you use something else make sure that it is a regulated power supply.
Thanks, Wayfinder and Walt, appreciate your advice, here's the reason I was thinking about kicking up to 12v, I bought 5 of these units a few weeks back, 4 control boards and 1 complete kit, so I started poking around the internet to see how others were setting them up and the majority of the people building amps said ditch the adapter that comes with it and get a 12v claiming it improved the headroom and volume and had less hiss, so my thoughts were, if their using them with no problems then it must be OK, do you agree with this or do you think the 12v could still cause problems down the road such as having your amp cranked for a long period of time, I also researched the people who own the FootNote pedalboard and again most of them kicked up the volts claiming the adapter it came with got very hot, a few said it got so hot it started smoking, I think maybe that's because they have a board full of pedals plugged into the FootNote sucking power along with the amp but you would think the company would have that covered, what are your thought's?
I'm still using the original wall wart but I'm not plugging any effects into it. I think 12 volts is likely to be OK just make sure that it's a regulated power supply. One amp of supplied power would cover the amp, if you want to plug in effects then go for more output, maybe two amps.
Thanks Walt.
I can't swear to the longevity at 12 volts, I've run it at 12 volts but all my 12 volt supplies had hum so I didn't use them. The safest bet would be to get a regulated 9 volt supply with 3 or more amps. I think the amp is pretty loud on 9 volts. It is what it is, a nice step between what Gitty sells and a 'full size' 20 watt amp.
Thanks again for all your input guys, considering I don't even have my first amp built yet I may be trying to fix something that isn't broke. LOL.
