    As Master Kay said, the answer will depend on the switch.

    In my limited experience, 3-way switches come in variations from 3 to 8 lugs...this is important when determining final wiring.

            Ah, I see, 'round here when someone says "house" it means square footage with all the amenities, plumbing, electricity, HVAC etc. :-)

    Which switch was it John? They do a couple.

    The basic one ($3.99) actually has a wiring diagram on the Gitty website (one of the product pictures)

    There will be hundreds of wiring diagrams for the Gibson style switch on Google images
