You didn't mention what you didn't like about the sound (volume, sustain, clarity, buzz, etc).

Are there any sound holes in the box? I couldn't tell from the photo.

What scale length? What string sizes?

Hi Tom.  I really wasn't surprised with the sound.  With no sound hole(s) and pickup it was

not very resonant.  Had some sustain for that matter.  I was wanting to make use of that small

Foundry box and to complicate things more it has a sliding top. I used .032 and .024 strings and

tuned G D. I didn't set it up for any particular scale length. I just put it together then found where

the 12th fret would be.  Addition of a piezo has since helped and I think I'll add a small sound hole

on the side facing up.  If you have had experience with 2 strings I would like to hear about them.

Hey Bill.

You can have a ton of fun just fiddling with this one Git. Piezo, sound holes, changes to the bridge location will all change the personality of the instrument. Don't be afraid to try all of them. Also consider trying some other strings. A .022" and .017" tuned D3 G3 would sound good on a two-stringer.

Look up Uncle Fred in the members here on CBN. He had done lot of careful building and experimentation with 2-stringers. Send him a friend request and he'll tell you a lot about what he's figured out.

just a suggestion Bill,as you seem to have no frets, try moving the bridge forward a bit and see if resonance improves

Tom and Darryl, thanks for the input..

All decent advice so far.  Sometimes sound holes help.  Some times they don't.    Absolutely for unplugged sound, try moving the saddle inboard (towed the neck) by one to 2 inches.

In the end, some gits with the same box just sound different than others.

I enjoy a GD tuned 2 string.  I used to do Gg - one G and then another an octave higher.  Now I prefer GD.
