Being a personal fan of the Steampunk genre and of industrial/mechanical-themed art in general, scrolling through the list of this year's entries is really a treat. Once again I am blown away by the creativity and ingenuity of the builders who congregate on CBN, and I certainly don't envy the hard choices the judges had to make.

First Place ($250.00 prize pack): Tom Thompson
Second Place: ($125.00 prize pack): Michael Naiman
Third Place: ($75.00 prize pack): Graeme
Fourth Place: ($50.00 prize pack) John Bernyk

Note: Keith Alan, the original first place winner, has chosen to withdraw his entry, so we have bumped everyone up one step.

As an added bonus this year (see first comment below for reasons) every non-winning entry will get a $25.00 coupon code usable at the Cigar Box Guitar superstore, http://www.cbgitty.com.

Congratulations to the winners, and a hearty "good job" to all of you! In the next week or so, I will be sending messages to the winners and all other entrants via private message here on CBN to provide info on your prize packs and coupon codes.

Thank you,

Ben/C. B. Gitty

  • One last comment and I am OUT OF HERE on this discussion.    This contest and minor controversy has REVITALIZED US!

    • Once again modern day life is not easy.

But some really cool instruments have been displayed and I hope played. I looked at all the pics and the whole Steampunk thing seems to be catching on. Perfect for CBG's. errrr homemade guitars.

      My next vid    The Dance.

  • I am not clear on what happened here, but screw it!     Great gits and Ben doing his best. to make things right.   There is a saying about no good deed going unpunished.   There is truth in that.   Long live the nation.   Congrats to the builders.

    • Keith decided to withdraw his entry and end his membership on CBN. He felt it was the right thing to do. He wasn't asked or pressured to do so, at least not that I know of. So we had to decide what to do about the contest, and we decided to just bump the other winners up a notch, which made Tom Thompson the 1st place winner and brought John Bernyk, who had been #5, into the #4 spot. Everything else, including the $25 coupon for all contestants, still stands.

It's a bit messy, but it wouldn't be an internet contest without at least some shenanigans.

      • Well, thanks for the explanation.  Good wishes to Kieth, a great builder and player.

And Ben, I used to run a lot of events and no matter how hard I tried, too often someone was not happy or felt snubbed.   It sucked, because I sure did my best as it appears you have done.   The best thing to do is look at all the good side (quite a bit here I think) and move on.

I hope your skin is thicker than mine and that we have more contests and fun events.

        • Second the best wishes part.

It's a shame Keith felt the controversy so much, if that's what prompted his actions.

And you're right John, we should take the good bits, there were a lot of those, and move on.

At least now I can put up some video of the screeching demon that is my entry and wait for the comments on that.

          •    ;-)

seen it commin , / repeating   hence   i  didnt  enter mine .

            • Our lives are better left to chance, I could have missed the pain, but I've have had to miss the dance.

              • Quoting Garth Brooks!   Oh my.  My support is now wavering.

                • Maybe so Uncle John, but it is one of Garth's better ones and Ben goes above and beyond in his support of the builders here.
