What would be some good choices for tho two strings to use?

How about either of these...

String 5 (A) tune down to G / String 4 (D) or

String 3 (G) / String 2 (B)

Low E & A

Not totally sure which (gauge string) to get for any of these or if any are good choices.

  • There are varying string gauges for short scale bass...one set being .090-.075-.050-.040 for the EADG on a full short scale 30", four string bass. Looks like you're aiming for  "G" tuning with either the .075 A string tuned down to G, and the .075 D as is...or the other two strings as  G-B .050-.040 combo.

Choice is really yours. But if you choose the lighter two strings (G & B) the bass will not be as "deep" sounding, if that matters to you.

The E-A, of course, would give the deepest sound.

  • I started this one for my thread here involving the 2 string bass... http://www.cigarboxnation.com/forum/topics/help-i-have-the-cbg-sick...
