Ok I've built 13 3 stringers, currently one stand up bass stick and now my MMA Professional cousin wants a 6 string peazo with an electric Humbucker pup...I'm thinking about using my VW first act guitar for parts and neck. 2 volume controls and leave it at that...Any thoughts on Box size, sound holes or advice before I tear this apart? yea I know a hand made neck/old school would be cool, but time, effort and patience I don't have.... Your Thoughts... Thanks

  • Leave your old guitar in peace and make a neck.Only had a short length of timber for this one so a through neck wasn't on.The box is reinforced and glued shut for strength306036978?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024306038403?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024

    • WOW that's nice.. What size wood?  I got 1 week to decide...   nice work

  • I personally think it is easier to make a six string thru neck than it is to fit a bolt in neck to a cigar box so that the box can handle the tension... Just my opinion, but I have done both before..
  • Is MMA mixed Martial Arts? (I'm in the UK and did a google search) If it is this would be a good neck plate

Also the rest of this seller's plates are worth a look all are laser etched and great quality.

    • Yes,  it;s mixed Martial Arts.. might just buy that... Thanks

  • This is great. some thing I didn't think about.. perfect..

  • Two things to consider (besides bracing box/providing surface to bolt on neck)...optimum box length is minimum 10.5" and 1.5 to 2" deep. This allows for room for pickups and enough room at tail of body to mount the bridge.

Second...set it up so the neck has at least 17 frets above the box. This gives enough room for the players hand to reach a few +octave notes above the 12th fret.306032406?profile=original
