Hello!

I was recently given a broken 12-string acoustic guitar, and I was really taken by the 'distressed' look of the decades-old lacquer.  I already have an ordinary 12-string, so I didn't need another.

Figuring the wreck had been left in a damp place for some time, I dumped it in a corner of my workshop to dry out for a month or two, whilst I had a think about what to do with it!

  • Resonator playing

That sounded nice, I also like the extra strip for reinforcement at the top, but it also turned the original sound hole into a crescent shape, cool

    • Thanks Richard!

      • If it isn't related to the bridge, check the string angle going to the tail piece and the string angle between the nut and tuners. Also make sure the strings aren't stuck in the nut or bridge string grooves.

        • Thanks Paul,

To be fair, I'm more than happy with the results so far!  I've moved on to another project; know anything about R/C model aircraft?

          • Yeah, they're too expensive. LOL

I started  building a twin engine P-38 back in the 80's. It was a Balsa wood kit and I got down to where I need to order the motors, servos and controller. I saw the prices, put everything back in the box and sold it at a yard sale.

Then started repairing and building electric guitars. Here's a pic of my Strat-O-Rez guitar.306649199?profile=original

            • Sorry for the blurry pic, crappy camera and shaky hands.

              • Good looking guitar though!

                • R/C aircraft: There are really expensive aircraft, and there are less expensive aircraft. There are no inexpensive aircraft. The more you can spend, the faster you can fly.

                  • I hear you on that!   Luckily my RC obsession pays for itself, as I do a bit of writing for one of the UK magazines to bolster the funds.

                  • Also, nice looking, nice playing rescue git. Old guitars that don't say Martin or Gibson often get trashed. Good save.
