When I found out last week of Jamie's passing I wanted to do a song. I was going to do Raggle Taggle Gypsy with a wig, but that was the easy way out. So I went way out in left field with Phil Ochs. Wonderful writer sad story.

So I had nothing for a vid after I recorded this I went to Jamie's page and on the second page of his pictures was a post Titled (CHANGES) just the picture of the Vet with the words below.
so Jamie wrote the vid.

Thanks turtle, I think most people  know I'm here more for the media then the social part but I  had probably more contacts with Jamie then anyone else all the way back to the Townes record.

I have no words to express how much I felt that with you as you sang and played. You were right that it deserves the light of day. It can't have been easy but thank you for sharing this with us.

Song (more a poem) about my dad ( an " Ayrshire boy" ) and also about my mother, and my sister),and the beach at Ayr where I spent a lot of holiday time on in my formative years.
In this song/poem, my mother is the story teller. She died many years before my dad. The song is about her "wait" for him to come home, which he now has.
I meant to say some more at the start of this video, but sometimes easier to "sing" words than to "say" them. I have never really played this song before. My co writer did the music, and a nice piano version.
But here, it's just me, in what was once my dad's bedroom, singing for him and my mum, and my and sister. Written about 2 or three years ago,I thought it was time the song the light of day.

My Ayrshire Boy © Rejman/Stevenson
My Ayrshire boy is coming home,
In my arms you chanced to roam
I had to leave you on your own
My Ayrshire boy, time to come home

We had a love to light the skies
I saw the sea dance in your eyes
Soft Scottish sands on which we'd lie
My Ayrshire boy, find wings to fly

I loved the redness of your cheeks
A country boy, though shy and meek
You fought a war, so the free could speak
Now come and find the peace you seek

The Ailsa Craig stands tall and proud
Mother Nature's trumpet playing loud
On donkey rides, amongst the crowds
Our children played, no thoughts of shrouds

No winds of sorrow, beneath blue skies
Such happy days ahead would rise
But all that lives must face demise
My Ayrshire boy, come dry your eyes

I watched your tears fall oh so free
Such tears you cried, thinking of me
But I was waiting, as you see
My Ayrshire boy, now home with me

(repeat verse 1)

Thanks you Dani and Bear, finding a post the same name as the song on his site made this much easier.

Thank you Nancy, It's going to be a little less Scottish around here.

A wonderful tribute. I'm sure that he would have enjoyed this too.
