Thanks Nathan. Lots of different instruments can be made with gourds - I'v made ukes and fiddles with smaller ones. I ran out of the synthetic gut material that I usually use to loop around the button so this is a piece of .080 weedwhacker line. Some folks have used electric wire or heavy twine - anything that doesn't stretch too much. Yeah, the main reason for doing this vid was to show how the skin is attached. Lots of folks think there's some trick to it but it's quite straightforward. I'll post the next part later today.

Great video. I have a couple gourds I'm going to be workint with. I'm not planning on a banjo at this point but I have been wondering how the skin gets stretched. Not as difficult as I thought it might be.

In part 2, I like how your tailpiece is set up. What do you use for the loop part that wraps around the strap button?
