I spent yesterday getting used to the slide I bought from Shane Speal - The Edge.

My Sawzall Box Resonator Guitar tuned open G (GDgbd) and my custom relic finish The Edge John Pearse guitar slide. The slide is meant to replicate the 1920s sound of a pocketknife used to play notes. The rattle and grind is part of the desired sound.

Thanks Andries, Maddog, Matthew and Chris!

The phone mic is right close to the slide so the rattle is a little less prominent overall, but still more present than a cylinder slide.

I like the sounds of that edge on that git Eric! I'm thinking that slide might be worth trying.

Sounds great Eric!

There's was an old player named Roscoe Holcomb (he's passed away now) that played with a knife slide. One of my favorite songs of his was......well of course "Knife Guitar" :-)

Its the rattly sound you go for,oke 100% sucses there ,i notice that as long as you stay on the strings there is no ratle at all only in the liftup and the position change, a differend recording point sometimes gifs a different sound to! great picking ! i think that sawbox is growing on ye!! greeettsszzz A.D.

Thanks turtlehead! I have been practicing a lot lately.

The slide is a different animal. It took me a solid 12 hours to get used to it and the same again to feel comfortable with it.

1) Glad you're keeping that guitar for yourself.

2) Your finger picking is getting so good.

3) That slide looks like a pain in the ass. (Sounds great though)

Thanks Uncle John.  I can't part with the guitar.  I think I'd rather let go of any of the others on my wall rather than this one.

Yes, this is the slide that is supposed to be like a pocket knife.  Shane is selling them at a great price.  I won't use it exclusively, but it does have some different sounds and uses compared to any cylinder type slide.

Glad you are keeping that git.   Hunh.   Interesting slide.  Is that the one I thought looked like a cudgel?
