I understand that Martin's new Limited Edition D-200 has been available for at least a short while now, so who knows how long there will be any left for us to buy??

And just FYI:
Several of the big musical instrument supply companies are offering the this guitar at a 20% discount.

Kinda makes ya proud to sit back and play a CBG. And laugh at a few people... ; )

Another proverb "A fool and his money...."

I was gonna go for this other Martin, but the cost of shipping was a deal breaker:

couldnt find any place that would give a value to his actual guitar. not even the article where Eric Dahl returns to him his 80th birthday Lucille gibson gave him that had been stolen. at least Eric got a 80th birthday git signed by the man himself...

found a couple of forum threads where someone was asking if $4500USD was a reasonable price for s signed BB King Lucille.  the consensus was that as BB was prolific with his sig it didnt really add anything to the price. some guessed 100 to 200 extra for a fan some said the wouldnt buy at all with a signature...upshot of this was someone pointed to a signed Lucille on ebay that no one bid on that had a starting price of $2000 USD. if you go to Gibson site they have a brand new Lucille listed at $6999 USD. think i will stick with my Yamaha Pacifica 121D and my almost finished CBG..( and about 20 i have ideas for...lol)

the guitar in the picture is the special 2,000,000 th guitar.

the 150,000 one is no where near as fancy.

A short video where the new head of the Gibson custom shop reveals their latest marketing strategies.

I watched an experiment on the effect or worth. They had set up a tasting table. Two exact same cakes. Same frosting. One was marked at what you would expect to pay at an in store baker shop. The other a specialty bakery. Everyone who took part in this experiment liked the more expensive cake. It had "better flavor", "moisture","frosting was better" and so on. People like to think you get more if you pay more. Price = pleasure.

Imagine the disappointment. Your sitting in a very dark room with all your guitars. You pick up one from the place you always put your special 'one'. Sit back and enjoy the sound and feel of it. Just to turn the light on and find that $300 Yamaha is resting in your lap. That $300.000 thing is still sitting in it's spot. Perception is everything.

Remember that video of someone accidentally smashing a very old Martin? Someone needs to remake that video..... : )

the show "Penn & Teller's Bullshit" did the same experiment with organic fruit.

They cut up one piece of fruit, put some of the slices on a plate named 'normal' and some on a second plate labeled 'organic' and folks raved about how much better the organic one was.

same with bottled water, it all came from the garden hose out back, but the label and price on the bottles they filled were different and folks swore they could taste the difference between the expensive water and the affordable water (same garden hose filled both)

I took a look at the Martin website...interestingly they are starting with relic or "aged" acoustics now. I suppose it had to happen.
