Knick knacks to embellish your creations --Vintage Guitar May'16 issue
For those that follow or subscribe to Vintage Guitar Magazine, or those that don't, be sure to check Will Kelly's article in the May '16 issue--he deals with things like buttons and other little items you can find at sewing shops, crafts shops etc to use as string guides, switch handles, knob additions, etc. Good ideas overall, but proof positive the values of the whole DIY Cigar Box movement are becoming more and more mainstream. I might add another kind of store to find great things to use in CB Creation is your typical beauty supply superstore (they are common here in Dallas and I'm sure all over, esp in Urban neighborhoods). Fantastic gaudy belts that can make great cb gtr straps for less than $2--just a hint of what all else lay in store. I'm sure some of the costume jewelry can be superglued to strategic places on anyone's project for effect.

Hello Will, I'm a bit shocked that no one has replied since a lot of us, including me, seem to be fond of sticking all kinds of embellishments on our CBGs, and other things too!
Thrift shops and dog walks on trash day are my favorite sources!
I frequently use belt buckles for sound hole covers, belts for straps, wood xmas ornaments from craft shop for sound hole covers, bits and pieces of stuff I find on the road and in the trash for various either functional or purely decorative purposes. I just pulled a really cool looking and old aluminum control plate off of a tube TV that has been sitting in a vacant lot near the house for many years. Also pulled most of the tubes out of it in case I want to use them as decoration (DieselPunk?)
I keep a box of just old rusty metal bits I find, just in case!
