Korrigan, to answer your question about the plate. It is definitely more flimsy than an actual license plate. But it works out fine. I did cut a sizable hole in the lid to allow it to vibrate. I also notched out the neck underneath the soundboard. I did however brace it up underneath where the bridge sits or the tension would have definitely deformed the plate. But I think being a thinner material, it gives it a decent twang. So I'm happy with how it turned out. I had my eye on that "Groovy" plate for some time. Then I scored a few of the Cohiba boxes which were the perfect size for a license plate. So I didn't have to build a box. It's still a 'cigar' box git.

I saw some of the replica plates on Amazon and was thinking about getting some but was wondering about how sturdy they are. Is the box cut out under the plate and if so, is the string tension deforming the plate at all?
