Ok, not a guitar and not hand made...by me anyway. Back in 1914, my great grandfather bought a new record player. It got handed down through the family and eventually, I became the proud owner. My aunt and uncle had it for a while. Somehow it got paint spilled down the side....(the side shown in the picture). My aunt tried to remove the paint and made the mistake of using sand paper. Luckily, she didn't damage and of the flatness or carvings anywhere, and she must have realized she wouldn't be able to do it right, so she stopped. When I got it, some paint was still there. The worst part was the sand paper damage. This is a mahogany cabinet and as it aged, the finish darkened, but the wood also darkened. I had no choice but to completely strip all the outside surfaces. I didn't use sandpaper. Where my aunt had sanded, she exposed lighter colored wood. I couldn't find an exact match for the stain, so I mixed colors and applied coats of different colors until I got a perfect match. That was the last time I worked on it and I haven't touched it in about 7 or 8 years. Last Saturday, my mom asked about it and said she would like to hear some of the records. My grandfather also had a recorder and they made some homemade records. Those are the ones my mom wants to hear since my grandmother (her mom) is probably on there as a child, along with her siblings and aunts and uncles. I decided I would take this week to apply a nice lacquer finish and finally get it done. This weekend, I'll show it to her for her birthday. I think her reaction will be a good one!

Beautiful Rooster. She won't be angry. There is one of those players in our bedroom. Ours is the empty cabinet. It was my lady's grandfathers. It's full of piano rolls.
