Hey Uncle John .... newer metal and rust ??? LOL  :-) ... no my friend, that is BRAND NEW .025 copper coated aluminum sheeting cut out for the tailpiece, then pounded with the round end of a ball peen hammer :-) ... I have never seen copper or aluminum rust during my 35+ years working as a machinist/welder, both before, during, and after incarceration :-) Copper can tarnish, but never rust ... aluminum can corrode, but never rust :-)

Short scale, short shorts.   Man, couldn't you find newer metal for the tail?  It's all rusty.  Those are good looking and fairly 'doable' F holes.
