I took out her guts and chassy and installed a 2 watt Tone Monster amp kit. It has on/off volume, gain, input Jack (fit in the cassette deck control panel. I used the nice 3watt, 8 ohm speaker. The pilot light shines through the plastic case. Looks cool in a dark room. It sounds great! Warm clean tone or a crunch at full gain.

Thanks Bluesheart and Paul. eBay seems full of good radios in the US. The ones I buy have been about 30$. That's 10$ for the radio and 20 shipping. I like old intercoms and CB radios too. I look for the most broken wooden ones.

I like the strong plastic case. The old bake light is brittle and usually cracked someplace. I lost two such sets in shipping. I won't order any more bakelites. The retro is as thick as the old Bakelite but crack free.

I used the retro knobs that came in the set. The speaker is the Crosley that came with the radio. I only added a board inside screwed to the floor to hold a standard 9 volt clip. The red led is tucked between the dial mount and the case. This amp is very light. No new holes were needed for any of the parts. Easy beans...
