The neck is 50mm at the widest tapers down to 42mm at the nut the scale length is 787mm (31") even though I laminated the neck I still put the truss rod in but never had to adjust it as the neck stayed straight after fitting the strings.

Im looking at building a bass as my next project. Is the truss rod necessary and how wide did you make the neck at its widest.
