A large potato peeler for possibly shaping the guitar neck with

Less than $4 bucks at my local Asian Market. I have not tried this peeler, so I can't attest to how well it may or may not work, but I plan to try it out in shaving the neck edges on my CBGs to see.

This peeler can be adapted to have a handle put to the other end, too. Maybe just some duct tape or perhaps adding a small handle there. It then becomes easy to use it as a draw knife.

i guess it'd work if you made the neck out of cheese, otherwise go with Gary W

James, good luck!  I think the spokeshave should be one of the best tools for the purpose of shaping CBG necks.  Drawknife might be a bit too aggressive...

Yes, those are great tools, too. These are just added ones that may also help. I have a spok shave on order, so I am anxious to see what it may do, too. Unfortunately, my arthritis is acting up in my knuckles and hands, so I am having to wait a bit to get back to working on the necks to my CBGs at the moment. I did some work on one of the boxes to accept the neck last night, but have to put it on hold until the wet weather here clears and my knuckles get back to the norm again. :-(

Let us know how that works!  I typically use a wood rasp, then sandpaper.  I do have an old big drawknife - might try that too!
