About a third finished, should sound like a reso when complete.  Will post pics as I go. Be sure to check out the Kopopelli resonator on my page. I just finished final setup & it's fantastic. Un-amped it is louder than my Dobro.

Got to go watch football & drink beer now! Bye

Hopefully the Fruit Cake Tin will act as the reso after I put some sound holes in it. Probably sound like a banjo or something wierd. I'll have some experimenting to do when I get faurther along.

Got to try & finish a few more guitars this week, there is a guitar swap meet in South Haven, Mi. the 15th I want to attend.

Pretty much finished this. Turned out great, just not as loud as I expected un-amped. I thought the cake tin would act more as a reso than it does, have to do some tweeking. Way TOO LOUD when amped, good tone though. Am attempting to attach some pics to this.

have you tried using the volume knob on the amp to control the volume,???
That is on my "to do list", on the guitar that is. I quit using a vol knob on most of my CBG's cause I built this cool little pre-amp box that you just plug into & it does a great job. I'll post a pic of it later.
i see, no volume control on the pre-amp,, so it's full on all the time,
No, no. The preamp is seperate. The guitar is on full blast all the time, the only volume control I have is on the amp. You can not turn it past 1. I'm adding a volume knob to the tin that should solve the problem. Let you know how it works.

Added volume pot on guitar & solved all the problems!

First of all, I know next to nothing about resonator guitars other than I like them.

Your neck looks like it is contacting the top of the tin.  Just wondering if it would be good to have some space between the neck and the top so maybe it could vibrate more might add volume.   Just wondering.

It's a great looking rig.  I really like it.

Fred:  It's actually bolted to the top, works better. It was so loud that I had to add a volume knob to run it through an amp, otherwise I couldn't turn my amp past one. Fairly loud when played acoustic. I think I have a pic of the inside on here somewhere that explains the setup better than I can. Thanks for your interest.

I've used this exact tin before. Look thru my photos for a better way to attach a neck to a cookie tin. Also I recommend doing more frets clear of the neck, so the bridge is closer to the center of the tin. Good work

Hey Kid: I sold this one but plan another. The tin I have is really BIG!, so I'll try to find another one. Will get in touch before I start & maybe we can compare notes.

Later;

Bob
