i found 2 examples of how tin boxes are attached to the necks.

the first has some kind of frame inside the box and the second

has a support piece under the neck. does anyone know if the second

is done by using screws to attach it to the back side of the tin?

as far as the the first way, with wood frame inside is it the same

way, with screws on the back? give me some clues people.

thanks

i plan to use a rectangle shaped tin, i want the top not to have screws in it. saving the picture on the front. so i should relief cut the neck underneath the top pf the lid,
and screw the neck on from the back of the tin. does that sound right?

this photo doesn't show what I'm talking about at all... but leave space between your soundboard (the surface the strings pass over) and neck

whether you are using the top or bottom of tin as your resonator... leave a gap between it and the neck... relief cut if necessary
With tins I think it's important that you don't remove material you cut an fold it out of the way... "make flanges"
thanks

this is why tins are cool

this tin lid had enough reveal that I didn't have to relief cut the neck

not necessary Paul no. Long as you cut nice neat slots in the tin.
I learned it from a guy called Naz Nomad, he calls himself some other name now..

wow that came out sweet. great job

It's actually this one that had the clearance... the pink one I releved the neck a bit 1/8 - 3/16 inch

thanks for all the info. i hope i can apply it.

the neck on it is really thick, support piece under it right? did you make a relief cut under the lid? beStillroy said:
