impact of sound holes
I have just finished my second acoustic build and both builds seem to have too much reverb when playing, There is no pickup. I am curious about opinions for adding additional sound holes.

I am not sure how to explain it, I just started building and learning to play, however, I cannot seem to get a crisp transition from chord to chord, there is bleed over from the first to the second. Also when playing with the slide I get great sound but when I use my fingers to play the chords the sound deadens

Well if I cover my sounds holes, the box just gets quieter. Are you using frets?
