Hey Uncle John-As far as the pickup goes, it’s only 3/8” thick. So it was not much thicker than the sound board. So no need to notch the neck. Just cut a groove in the sound board and support the pickup underneath. The rosewood piece on top came with it. It has a groove on the underside that holds the pickup as well. That wood piece however was 1/4” thick. I sanded it down a bit thinner to allow the strings to clear and keep the action where I wanted it.

That looks great and I am interested in how you did the pickup.  I use that wood for under the pickup, for a base.  Good idea to do it as you did.
