Here's my latest build, I'm pretty happy with the result.. I bought a couple of these Arturo Fuente boxes from C B Gitty a while back and have had this last one sitting around waiting on some inspiration for a build.. My nephew who is a pretty accomplished guitarist showed interest in playing a 3 string cigar box so I thought I'd build him something special.. It's got twin adjustable pickups each with their own volume and tone controls and are tied together by 3 way switching.. It also has an on-board distortion control powered by a 9v battery.. The tail-piece is Macrocarpa which is a New Zealand native timber, it's durable and easy to work without being heavy so the balance for playing is okay.. The neck is Jarrah which is a really dense hardwood, tough as a bag full of hammers, you'd snap strings under tension long before you got the slightest bend in the wood.. The piece of timber the neck has been made from is actually part of a fence my nephews great grand father built in 1909 and I tell you even after 109 years those fence palings still unpainted were dead true, that's how good Jarrah is..

Thanks guys for the input.. I want to start developing a style of build I can call my own, something unique.. Adding the tailpiece was a start and was not that straight forward as I had to figure out a way of adding internal bracing so there would not be stress fatigue on the rear of the box but also that it didn't get in the way of the electrics.. I've just received a few more boxes from Gitty and for a couple of them I have some fairly radical plans.. Time will tell as to whether what I see in my head actually can translate into the flesh.. I'm totally useless as a player but I do enjoy the challenge of building them..
