Just need a good confidence boost here chaps.

This is my project, I have put a maple centre block in a cut my neck joint which I am worried it too shallow?

I have a cone to put in place and a gibson style bridge to go towards the back.

My electrical plan is to have a blending pot betweena  p90 and a piezo on the cone; tone and volume too.

Paint job, thinking high gloss Pelham blue apart from the back of the box where the origional cigar details are... Painted headstock too to match.

Can you guys have a look? Let me know your thoughts? I am worried about setting out with a poor chance of a good action... but I am trying.

Hi Rob, by using a heal I can move the neck forward more (2 holes in neck block 2 screw holes on heal) for better placing of saddle position.

Taff

Thanks Taff.

I will make somethign nice out of maple to act as a heel for the neck. Im a bit sad I cocked it up really but I am sure it will be ok... Just another bit of work to do...

I guess I can screw and glue it through to the other block inside... :)

OK, so I have only gone and done it!! :)

I made a router jig and sorted the scale length which I measured time and time again, so this should be right. I do have some movement with the cone and biscuit so all should be good.

What next!?

Time to sort out tailpiece, electrics if adding

What's Next?...........I'd be working out soundholes and top brace. Looking good.

Taff

Sound hole on top "horn" is what I fancy..... electric pots on bottom horn...

Top brace?!?! What' that? Lol

Deffo electrics... which I'm planning..

I guess get a tailpiece on and sort my neck joint then see what kind of action I've got?

Now making progress....

Made a bit of an error and Taff helped out with the idea of the neck heel.

But looking better?

Layout pics.... Any ideas??

I am either having a pickup switch from piezo to p90 or a blending pot...

Id love some ideas from you all

Personally, I'm not a big fan of piezo's, unless a rod piezo with a pre-amp, too twangy, I'd stick with just the p90 for a 6 string, but, your guitar....means, you make what you like, so can't help you much with the question, others will chime in, but, I do like the "F" hole if that's what you decided on. "F" holes are said to be the best for sound/volume release from the inside of a guitar. Are the coins going to be inlay, or used a mountings for pots and such?

Going to be a sweet git when done for sure.

The coins are just to show the location of the controls....

I thought the F hole looked good too :)

I like guitars to be asymmetric.

I have two piezos built into my loom, so i can play about with that somewhat. and using a blending pot would mean I could dial in some normaility lol,

So,

Here we have it... all roughly put together to check things work before the final F holes and finishing.

I am really pleased it works, but I do need to now setup the guitar.

Problems I am having:

  • Strings moving position on the bridge, how do I shape this accordingly? Slots? Grooves? A round?
  • Intonation not set yet, will wait until I can plug in and set once I am putting it together finshed.
  • Need to decide on finish... the stains I wanted to use looked awful :(
