Just finished my first Chocolate Tin. CBG or CTB. Hardest part was having to eat the contents first.

Back after some time due to losing all logon details for everything after a serious Computer failure. Lots of important stuff gone for ever. Still been building and selling on EBay and local music shop. Beat my own record last weekend. Put a CBG on EBay on Saturday ...sold it on Sunday. Perhaps I am asking too little.

I'll message you later on Bear - I don't want to push Chickenbone John's Boxstock info off the front page.

Thanks David. That puts me at ease. I obviously didn't search the internet well enough even though I did look. I'll take a look at the link too. Much appreciated.

Yes, definitely still enjoying the whole CBG shenanigans still! I've now got two of the Brent Robitaille CBG instructional books and signed up to membership on LearnCigarBixGuitar.com so working my way through them too. Interestingly, I managed to figure out a song by ear for the first time the other day. It's only rough but all the notes are in the right order and it does sound like the song, surprisingly enough lol. It's "Wish I was in Heaven sitting down". Can't remember who it's by but I might look up the lyrics and try playing and singing at the same time next. Exciting times! Yessir, still LOVING the CBG.

Hope you're well?

@Bear - 3 types of amp that use valves/solid state (integrated circuit)/hybrid (that uses valves and an integrated circuit).

Solid state ones often do this pop when you switch off (one of mine does).

There is a link specifically asking about a Marshall MG15 amp
http://www.marshallforum.com/threads/marshall-mg15dfx-loud-popping-...

General opinion looking online is yes they do it but not really something to worry about.

Glad to see you are enjoying your CBG hobby :0)

Just in case people have missed my messages. and posts, trade stands for Boxstock are now available. Strictly limited numbers, so if you want to be there, be quick! £35 per spot, which includes one free ticket for the evening gig. By the way, "Early Bird" tickets are now sold out, but regular price tickets are now on sale.

Hi all. I'm back with another quick question if that's okay. I've bought the amp I linked to below but this is my first amp of this type as far as I'm aware. It's a "solid state" amp. No ides what that means.

Anyway, my question, is it normal for an amp to pop or make a cracking noise really loudly when I turn it off? I have both clean and overdrive volumes turned right down and the spring reverb amount dial turned right down too. Both depress buttons are in the out position (so not selected), one being the OD button and one being for "FDD". Both not selected anyway.

Having no experience of these amps I thought it best to ask you all who have vastly more experience than I.

Thanks in advance for help and advice given. Much appreciated.

It's an Orange Crush 50watt bass amp Chickenbone John. I probably wouldn't make much if I resold it (I don't usually have much fortune on resale values) but it's £250 new and he only wants £80. It's in as new condition too.

Amps are plentiful and cheap, so personally I wouldn't bother unless it was an absolute bargain that I could turn around and make some money on. It will work, but the speaker and amp circuitry will be biased towards a relatively clean sound and very little in the way of treble response. There are exceptions of course -  the Fender Bassman was a favourite for guitarists and harp players, but I can't think of one other bass amp that has that sort of reputation. Out of interest, what sort of amp is it?
