"Thanks Erasmo", watched a 2 part documentary on the idiot box a couple of nights back called  "Blood + Thunder: The Sound Of Alberts", it's a story about the evolution of Aussie Guitar Rock in the 60's & 70's, which of course included AC-DC at the top of the list, a couple of quotes from the show sum up your question as to what we call it "Down Under", if my memory is correct they described it as a "Thick Pub Rock Sound" played very loud!, the other one that comes to mind was that "Aussie's Attack Their Guitars" playing hard and fast. :-)
