Gorgeous, Shamrock!. It and has the aura of a magical staff or shillelagh.  Ready to light up and dispel the darkness. Very well done.

A big agreement from me on both using tail pieces and making our own, whether out of wood, sheet metal or copper.  Ones like this one are not that hard to do, pretty quick and cheap to free.   (I use scrap sheet metal from a friend who installs furnaces.)

And a huge plus for me is that I can unscrew the tail-piece, move the strings aside and work on frets, nuts and saddles.

Uncle John.... the "Not Laser cut" comment is my "dig" on trying to keep these geetars hand-crafted as much as humanly possible.... I have used "laser cut" tailpieces in the past and they are great, but a bit pricey and they look precision made, which they are when cut on a CNC burntable plasma cutter or a laser (I often operate a plasma burn table at work) .... by making my own tailpieces out of either copper tubing, or sheet metal, with nothing more than tin snips, ball peen hammer, hand drill and a lot of cussing, I feel the geetar(s) are more in the mold of the CBG's of long ago, when the world did not have CNC lasers or similar machines to pump our cookie cutter products.... I used my last laser cut tailpiece the other day and from this point forward will only use homemade tailpieces or fabricate "string through"bodies.... plus, the copper tailpieces make for an excellent ground...........

Yup, Dave.  Patina.   I like the hinges, dog bowl, shamrock and tail.  I don't get the laser comment.  Hmm.  Nope.  Not laser cut?
