Hi Jon. I don't work with piezos, but I've worked with a lot of single coils, I would think that the small gauge p/u wire would be fine with piezos conversions. Any other takers?

I agree.,.,piezo's and coiled magnetic pickups both use the same wire.,.,I tend to use a little lighter gauge wire on the piezo's.,.,the big stuff is a little harder to tack to a piezo.,.,

You weren't specific about the parts, "volume & tone slider control" seems to suggest an on-board pre-amp??? so there might be impedance issues that will affect the quality of the sound it puts out if the piezo rod is switched for a mag-coil

HOWEVER the gitty pre-amp works great for both so I'd say you are least safe from releasing any magic smoke from it

as to wire, these work in the 1's to 100's of mille-volts and mille amps, any wire bigger than the mag pickup's winding wire will carry the load.  I try to use wire that I'm not afraid I'll break in the handling/soldering/mounting steps.
