Hey all.  I am a first timer trying to put together an amp using a CHAMP AMP kit.  The instructions for wiring the kit are NOT so good, and I have been trying to follow other websites on wiring.  I wired almost everything together (no solder yet) to check to see if it works, but no sound.  Could I get some help?

1) Could one of you kindly help with the schematics on the wiring for LED light, volume pot, battery, speaker, jack (mono or stereo) and switch?
2) A simple drawing diagram would be best for me.
3) As I am a first timer, I don't know all of the electrical jargon, so be kind to my IG-NANCE.

I uploaded some pics of what I have done so far.  I appreciate the help, and I will post a step by step later with pics to help others out using the same kit.

This is an instructable that I wrote. Hope it helps.
Your component placement & orientation appear to be fine ... I'd need to see a close-up of the underside of the board to 'assess'' the soldering for potential problems though. Firstly, solder the speaker +/- wires onto the relative pins at the right of the board ... I know the black wire DOES go to ground, but there's a dedicated pin for it and teeing off the groundwire will result in a messy joint unless you're using heatshrink sleeving to cover/protect it. Electrical tape DOES NOT belong in a quality build. I see a black wire on the top-right pin ... I would expect to see a red (positive) wire from your power supply on that pin. The jack is connected correctly, no obvious problems there. The trimpot to the left of the PCB is the volume control, if you want an external volume control you would need to get
(from the instructions I'm reading) a 10kΩ LOG pot, remove the one from the PCB and replace it with 3 wires going to your new, external pot. Using an LED indicator would involve getting another resistor and wiring it inline with the LED, else your LED will be very short-lived lol. I'd get the amp working
without the external volume control and LED first and once you're happy with it, then make the alterations. This is what I'd expect the wiring to look like ... 1 wire per pin.
