Rat. A lot of folks I know call me that. I'm kinda long haired and scraggly. More of an appearance thing than personality.

Our band hosted an open mic for a couple of years, this one lady sang "House of the rising sun" if we played for her, but she never got my name right, a different one each week, till she settled on "Steve" (??) and it stuck, I was from then on Steve to her, and now it's a running gag in the band.

When my three grandkids, then my two kids, and even my wife all called me by Grandpa, it was a done deal. Very organic (but not like lettuce and such).

I was wearing a shirt... "I'm Pink, therefore, I'm Spam"  to a gaming place back in the 80's... I needed a call sign... It stuck...
