Ozark Cigar Box Guitar Fest Announced! - Aug. 12, 2017 Warsaw MO

Cigar Box Nation & C. B. Gitty Crafter Supply proudly announce the first annual Ozark Cigar Box Guitar Festival!

Sat., Aug. 12, 2017  -  Drake Harbor, Warsaw, MO  -  Noon-7pm

Free event, family friendly.  BBQ, food, beer & wine garden.

AJ GAITHER, ONE HAND DAN, JASON VIVONE and more

The Ozark Cigar Box Guitar Festival will make its debut in Warsaw, MO overlooking beautiful Lake of the Ozarks. The family-friend and one-of-a-kind event is located at the Drake Harbor outdoor amphitheater and will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017.

Artists will feature their homemade cigar box guitars, which are made of recyclable materials. As the name implies, the body is made of an empty cigar box. The head and neck can be made out of anything from broom handles to wooden slates or sticks and the actual body out of bedpans, skillets and anything in between. These cigar box guitars will be showcased for sale and during the live music event held throughout the day. The musicians sell their creations starting at $50 and go up to around $500 on average.

International touring artists, nationally-recognized and amateur musicians will be playing live bluegrass, rock, country and blues music using their handmade cigar box guitars. This music festival will be from 12:00pm-7:00pm. Food and merchandise vendors will contribute to the festivities and there will be a Beer Garden hosted by the Knights of Columbus-Warsaw.

Ryan Mackey, owner of The Still custom wood work and art in Sawdust Alley in downtown Warsaw, has been making the cigar box guitars for many years and sells them in his shop. “You create this unique masterpiece with your own two hands”, Mackey says. Mackey is also the coordinator of this event and says “bring your family, friends and lawn chairs and join us for a one of the best music festivals in the Ozarks”. He anticipates the attendance around 300 people for their first year due to the following of the Cigar Box Guitar enthusiasts.

The featured performers are A.J. Gaither OMB, Jason Vivone, One Hand Dan and more who will be exclusively playing homemade instruments.

This event is sponsored and promoted by the Benton County Tourism & Recreation Commission and co-sponsored by local businesses and the Warsaw Parks & Recreation.
