I found the main thing is to etch a straight line.,,.i use a plate glass cutter but I hear some people just use a hacksaw to score the glass. Use a simple jig to make the line straight.,sometimes you have to go back and forth between hot and cold a few times.,,.the ladies have a great youtube video using thread and nail polish remover.,.,it can be done .,.,!!

I've had fun and limited success with this method. The scoring must be very straight. Hard to do, Keep trying until you get a winner or two,
