Show us your number one stringed instrument. The one you would choose if you could have only one. You can put more than one in the photo, but put number one on the left.

I can play the big box tenor on the left in any key, plugged or unplugged.   Center is my fave guitar, but not as versatile a player in open G.    For plugged in, nothing else makes me sound as good as the swampy.

I'd have to pick this one, especially since it's one of the only ones I've kept for myself. Great sound from that old plate, and lots of sentimental value as it's my late uncle's plate. I do need to add a nice pickup to it though.

I bet you do, Wayfinder! ;)

mighty fine looking LPG.

Wow! Some GREAT looking instruments here! My own favorites would include these three:

Faves.jpg (450×675)

The Cremo and Black & White Stogies are 5-string banjos with vintage boxes, hard to come by. Plenty of Cremo boxes on Ebay, but not in the pristine condition this one was. On the right is a Hoyo de Monterrey 6-string guitar -- a solid body, i.e., filled with a block of wood -- which has been my most-used axe at home and at countless blues jams. All these are keepers, but the ONE I'll never sell is the Cremo banjo. So sweet-sounding and easy to play!

Wow, Bear.   Nice woods boxes and builds.

Nice topic.

Short answer, I still haven't built it.
Long answer, I'm still gaining momentum in my building skill to marry my playing style to my instrument. As I've got older my shakes are killing my speed and accuracy. I need wider string spacing at the nut and also a palm rest for my right hand. My finger picking is having to be replaced by a pick (annoying but necessary). I doubt if I can get back into slide playing again as it rattles on the strings now.

It will be a 4 string 24&1/2" scale dog bowl resonator 8&/1/2mm nut spacing down to 10&1/2 at the bridge using middle 4 standard heavy guitar strings tuned higher than normal (I want 2 wound and 2 unwound which is problematic and needs an unusual solution). It's the palm rest that will need work to not interfere with the soundboard but still be a solid part of the guitar as I tend to bump bruise and abuse my instruments with travel.

But.. Before I build it I need a little exercise in building a couple of fretless instruments (one of which is from an antique bed warmer).

I'm not in a hurry, I need it for next summer... Summer sun and park parties!

Love the Sea mist green git you made and the Fender Bullet.   I like the fixed and modified classical git the best.   Looks great.  But honestly. I would have guessed you added too much sound hole area.   Glad it sounds great.

So nice! Based on their looks and the obvious work that's gone into 'em, I can see why it's hard to pick a favorite. “Wow” X 5.

I am with Hilliary and the goldfinch.

This little uke is a lot of fun to play around with

this one is my favorite made from olive wood and it sounds beautiful .

Looks good, John.
