My names Charlie, I currently reside in Newcastle Upon Tyne, U.K. I'm a full time performing/teaching musician, part time music student at Newcastle University. I fell in love with these amazing guitars at the Summertyne Americana Festival, of which is held at the Sage Gateshead, U.K. A couple of stalls were selling these beautiful creatures, and I was fortunate enough to see Hymn for Her and Reverond Payton Mathiew's. Since buying my first fretted 3 String CBG at the festival, I have gotten the luthier bug and have just completed my first CBG. I'm also currently compiling research for my dissertation at Newcastle University, of which will be about Cigar Box Guitars. I'm currently unsure if I will write a piece studying the history/histography, and/orearly repertoire, or write an ethnographic piece about the Cigar Box Revolution in Newcastle/world wide. So if you see me post both strange and odd questions to any of the forums, you know what the craic is!
I also want to say thank you to everyone. Every cigar box community I have found has both been welcoming, helpful and eager to help everyone in the community out. I honestly believe that if there were more communities and people like ourselves, the world would be a better, and more musical, place! Thanks for reading, would love an add for anyone who got this far! (Apologies for the length)
