hi, just signed up, and have quite a few question's,

cant play and never made a cbg, but i'm going to do both,

anyone grafted a standard guitar neck onto a cigar box, only asking as i've just bought a box (pic) and i have this old guitar i bought 20 years ago, it's called a "SATELLITE" , 24 1/2" from nut to bridge, thinking to use 3 or 4 string's, make a new nut and bridge, and use the jack, p/up etc, any thought's,

I tried my first time to put a real neck on a 3 string by just bolting it to the front and it bowed bad. I have since built a 6 string cigar box with that neck and its a great guitar. Make sure to use that pickup in whatever you build.
just make sure that your box is long enough to handle that scale length....

not just bolting the neck to the box, making it a through box type, why use that pickup,?

not really sure what you mean,, but i've just won a cutlery box on ebay (16" x 12" x 4") that i think i'll use as my first try at guitar making, and save the cohiba box for another project with a homemade neck,,
???

How you gonna do that? If you use a premade neck you have to attach it the way that it was originally. If the neck we see is screwed on to the body you have to screw it on to the CBG box. I'm making one out of an Arturo Fuente King B box and am having to put plywood inside to make the box solid.

you need to make sure the scale will on the box. I built up under where the neck would be then cut out part of the front so it would sit in some and have more strength. Then i built a through piece across the bottom and then added a block at the back for the strings to go into. I would use that pick up because it will pick up better noise on that box because of how solid it will have to be to withstand the string tension
I'm trying it...
check out my bad vids...
lots of bracing and studs
and
infrastructure
it'll probably buzz
watch "Stuck on you"
the beginning to my approach
HI
I have modded it to a 4 banger
we will see...
