Don't fell bad U.J. ,I haven't heard anyone call Poplar "Tulipwood" in years. Nice build tho!

Over here in England it's always listed as tulipwood and it's not a tree we're familiar with. I have seen one with tulip like flowers all over it in the grounds of a local private school. Your right about it being easy to shape, another great attribute.

I am a dunce.   I forgot that poplar is also called tulip wood.    Yup it is much used.   I've used it and it shapes easily but seems to take a lot of sanding.    We even have poplar -tulip trees around here in Iowa and the leaves look like tulips.

Hi Uncle John, I read or heard that tulipwood/poplar was the wood traditionally used in making cigar box guitars in the past which is why i like using it, also its light, cheap and easy to get hold of. I get it cut to size for me from sherwingroup on eBay. Cheers Rhyan.
